Leaders and Interns Formation Experience

The Leaders and Interns Formation Experience (LIFE) Program invest time and attention in young leaders in the midst of life-changing experiences in order to set their career on a course to serve high-risk populations in a healthy, effective, and sustainable way for a long time.

Penny Salazar-Phillips, a licensed clinical social worker, heads up the LIFE Program. With over 40 years of experience working as a social worker in a number of contexts, Penny's passion is to help the next generation grow personally and professionally.

The LIFE Program has 3 Primary Goals:

  1. To provide an excellent field experience for students to put into practice the skills, concepts and theories that they have learned in their educational pursuits.  I want to pass on the wisdom gleaned from working in the field for 40 years.
  2. To help organizations carry out their mission with a professional workforce that does not require hiring individuals.
  3. To provide an opportunity for students to work with high risk populations. And to provide them with the opportunity to develop personally and professionally.
